Can You Be Funny?TEDx talk
My TEDxMcGill talk on teaching people comedy. When you think of "funny" as a toolbox instead of a person, amazing things can happen. Selected from 125 applicants.

My personal Substack about entertainment, culture and tech, for ideas too lengthy for an X thread and too esoteric for my roommates.
Read on Substack ↗MessagepointCustomer success
I worked at Messagepoint as a Technical Customer Success Specialist. I set up systems, drive automation across ChurnZero and Salesforce, and helped the team adapt to an AI-driven future.
Stand-upComedy
Performed around Montreal with the McGill Students’ Comedy Club. I still do the occasional open mic to keep my skills fresh.
Watch a clip ↗ImprovComedy
Former President of McGill Improv, with lots of experience performing and teaching improvised comedy. Currently a student at Bad Dog Theatre in Toronto.
You can watch an old show here if you want, I guess ↗TIFFVolunteering
After many years, I was finally able to volunteer at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2026. Best celebrity sightings: Ed Helms and Lily James. Best part of the festival: Midnight Madness. Movie I'm still waiting to see: Sunburn.
The Plumbers’ FaucetEditor-in-chief
I was editor-in-chief of McGill's only satire magazine. The issues weren't published online, but I guess you could take it at my word that I know Adobe InDesign?
“Dallas”Comedy Sketch
A short sketch I wrote, self-taped and edited, about a guy trying to put himself out there in Dallas, Texas. He’s pretty preoccupied with the history of the city.
Watch now ↗Propeller Grad CapGood bit
I built a working propeller hat for my engineering graduation. A small motor and battery pack spun it as I walked across the stage. As you can see from the photo, it got some laughs.
Music GauntletWeb
I wanted to prove that I could name every Vampire Weekend song with less than 10 seconds for each, and then I turned it into a game. Inspired by fruitiger aero designs and the iPod Classic, this site challenges you to memorize every song in an artists' catalogue. Uses the Apple Music API for song listings.
Play the game ↗Vampire Weekend HeardleWeb
A band-specific Heardle clone built on an open-source template, back when those were a thing. It ran for a few years and even got a mention in Stereogum.
My claim to fame ↗The CalendarGood bit
I've started a tradition of making a Charlie-themed calendar for all my friends every year. Every month, a new image of me greets those I hold dear. Nobody liked the AI-generated shirtless photo I put in last June.

About
Hi there! I'm Charlie.
For work, I'm a software/solutions/AI kind of guy. What I really like to do is build cool things, no matter what tools I'm using. I like to think that if we were in the Victorian era, I'd be a carpenter.
Outside of work, my passion is comedy. I used to do a lot of comedy stuff at McGill University, ranging from improv to stand-up to an entire magazine. Nowadays I'm just doing it as a fun side activity. I also love movies, the band Vampire Weekend, and my dog, Sloan.
As I write this, I'm currently between jobs so please don't hesitate to get in touch! If you're passionate about what you do and think our interests intersect, I'd love to talk.
